Exercise for children

Romping around, skipping, running: children usually have a natural urge to move around and play. But in daily life nowadays there isn’t always time or space for this. Parents can support their children by encouraging them to take exercise and teach them to have fun doing sports. BIG gives you financial support here.

Going outside every day

Parents can do a lot themselves so that children can satisfy their natural urge for movement. The main recommendation here is to go outside and play with your children every day. Children should have a lot of movement in their daily routine too, so try to go on foot or by bike rather than taking the car for every journey.

How much exercise?

Experts have issued a recommendation on the minimum amount of exercise children should have each day.

Do you want your child to have more exercise?

BIG provides subsidies if children over 6 take part in health promotion courses, e.g. yoga for children. If the courses are held by suitably qualified trainers, we pay up to 90 euro per year for each course.

How do I find the right course for my child?

You can look for specific courses for children in our online database of courses, if you choose the subject area of “exercise” and the “children and adolescents” age group. If you are already going to a children’s exercise class with your children or can’t find a planned course, just give us a call. For us to be able to check whether the relevant conditions have been satisfied, we need to know what qualifications the trainer has. You can also ask the trainer if they satisfy the requirements for the subsidies from health insurance providers.
