BIGselect Sickness Benefit
The BIGselect Sickness Benefit supplementary policy provides all those who are self-employed, freelancers and those not in regular or in temporary employment, security if they unable to work.
Flexible coverage
In choosing BIGselect Sickness Benefit you will be assured of an entitlement to sickness benefit from day 43 of incapacity to work, even as a self-employed person. The amount of the daily sickness benefit is 50 euro per day. The monthly premium is 29.50 euro and does not depend on other factors such as age. You can also choose this policy even if you are not in regular employment or if you are in temporary employment*.
*Employees with a temporary employment contract that was fixed in advance at less than 10 weeks
Advance sickness benefit for artists
Artists and journalists, insured under the Künstlersozialversicherungsgesetz (German health and pensions insurance scheme for self-employed artists) can choose BIG Select Sickness Benefit for a period from days 15 to 42 with a daily sickness benefit of 20 euros. The monthly premium for this is €3.50. From the 43rd day you are then entitled to the statutory sickness pay.
