Immunisations – active health protection

Thanks to immunisations, many dangerous diseases have lost their power to terrify nowadays. BIG’s advice to you is therefore: make sure you get your immunisations! We allow numerous immunisations and encourage prevention in this way.

Immunisations at BIG

The range of benefits provided by BIG is based on recommendations by experts like the immunisation guidelines from the Joint Federal Committee and the Permanent High Commission on Vaccination at the Robert-Koch-Institut. The costs for the vaccine are settled using the health insurance card. You are entitled to these immunisations as a BIG member, provided the conditions for the immunisations are satisfied as described by the Permanent High Commission on Vaccination. This also applies to their combined vaccines:

  • diphtheria
  • TBE (tick-borne encephalitis)
  • haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
  • hepatitis A
  • hepatitis B
  • cervical cancer/HPV (human papilloma virus)
  • influenza (flu)
  • measles
  • menigococcal infection
  • mumps
  • pertussis (whooping cough)
  • pneumococcal infections
  • poliomyelitis (polio) also in the case of travel to countries with a risk of infection
  • German measles
  • tetanus
  • varicella (chickenpox)

The doctor decides

Your doctor will decide which immunisation you need. He/she is bound by the terms of the guidelines of the Joint Federal Committee.
