Immunisations – active health protection
When infants and toddlers are suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting, rotaviruses are frequently the cause of this. This is why the BIG assumes the costs for the rotavirus immunisation for infants from the age of seven weeks – quite straightforwardly using the health insurance card.
Eliminating risks in good time
Children between the ages of 3 and 24 months are most susceptible to an infection that is usually accompanied in very young children by a temperature and vomiting and can last up to seven days. Diarrhoea, vomiting and a temperature can rapidly lead to dehydration especially in infants and toddlers.
The doctor decides
The permanent vaccine commission (STIKO) at the Robert-Koch-Institut (RKI) does not yet generally recommend the rotavirus vaccination for all infants. As with any other immunisation, the paediatrician, together with parents, should therefore consider the benefits and risks to the individual child from an oral vaccine.
Doctors settle bills directly with BIG
Policyholders just give their paediatrician the health insurance card, the doctor can then settle the costs for the vaccination directly with BIG. If your doctor wants to issue you with a private invoice, please contact us so that you do not incur any unnecessary costs.
